Week of May 19 to May 23

This Week's Schedule:  Both TTs are open this week. Make appointments for Tuesday and Wednesday -- this is your last chance to make use of TT!

Check Aeries NOW: check your grades and talk to teachers as necessary. 

Monday: Farewell Assembly.  You'll go to the stadium for the assembly, with your 4th period class. Schedule for the day will be posted in room 122, or you can see it on the school website. 

Wednesday:  Locker Cleanout.  This will take place during TT on Wednesday. 


EL World History

We'll continue with our coverage of the Russian Revolution and the Cold War.

You'll learn about the Revolution of 1917, and the Russian Civil War. 

We'll cover Stalin's rule, and Russia's involvement in WWII and the Cold War. 

Final Exam: You'll receive a study guide for the final exam.  You may bring a note card to the test.  I will hand out cards on Monday. 

Bring your binder to the final exam!


US History 

This week, we'll cover some major events of the Civil Rights Movement.  You'll research one event, and create a poster summarizing that event. 

Your fellow students will take notes on your poster.

Final Exam:  You'll receive a study guide for the final exam on Monday. You may have a notecard at the final exam.  I will have cards available for you. 

Bring your binder to the final exam.  I will collect a final binder packet right before the final.

Week of May 12 to May 16

EL World History

If you would like to correct some of your questions on the recent Holocaust quiz, come to Trojan Time this week.  

We'll continue our unit on the Russian Revolution and the Cold War. We'll review Russian social classes before the Revolution, and you will make a map of the Russian Empire. 

You will take notes on the weakness of the Tsar's rule in Russia and the coming of Marxism to Russia. 


US History 

If you were absent last Friday, you need to hand in a binder packet for the Vietnam War unit.  Make a TT appointment to take care of this. 

New Unit: Civil Rights.  Make a divider for this unit in your binder. 

We'll start with some definitions -- Civil Rights, Natural Rights, Human Rights.  

You'll receive a list of important civil rights terms.  Quiz, maybe? 

We'll cover major events of the Civil Rights movement, and its impact on US society and politics. 

You will compare/contrast the ideas and goals of two prominent civil rights leaders: Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X.

EL World History

Many students were absent last Friday!  We will take the short Holocaust quiz on Tuesday at the beginning of the block period. 

We will transition to a new unit on Russia and the Cold War.  

You will learn about life in Tsarist Russia, before the Russian Revolution. 

You'll create a map of Russia in the 19th Century. 

You will take notes on the weakness of the Tsar's rule in Russia and the coming of Marxism to Russia. 


US History 

If you missed the vocabulary quiz (basic Vietnam vocabulary), make a TT appointment this week to make it up. If you are unhappy with your score, come to TT to retake the quiz.

We'll continue our coverage of the war in Vietnam, a Cold War "containment" conflict.

Due at block: "1968, A Year of Crises." The textbook section is posted in Google Classroom. 

We'll discuss the momentous developments of 1968, including the Tet Offensive and the My Lai massacre. 

We'll cover the resistance to the draft, and the development of the "Counterculture."

If possible, we'll discuss the growing opposition to the war and the end of US involvement in Vietnam.
