Progress report grades were sent to the office today, and will go home later this week

US History:
1. Due Thursday: Physiographic Map of the United States.  I wills stamp both sheets -- the one with the questions/clues, and the map itself.

EL World History:
1. Quiz at block: Philosophers and Types of Government. Same material as the practice quiz on Monday!

APEH:
1. We'll continue with document practice on Thursday. Read all the docs and try to decide what groupings/paragraphs you could construct with them.
2. Multiple choice test on Friday, assuming that we get finished with the docs. Your SG, which should already be done at this point, will be due. 
3. Revised Renaissance notes should be returned to me asap.

Grades will be transmitted tomorrow (Tuesday). Be sure to see me asap if you need to turn anything in, or if you have questions about your grade.

US History:
1. We have moved on to a new unit. If you missed the test last Friday, or if you have not handed in your binder packet, see me immediately.
2. Due at block: "Washington and the Government" reading guide. There will be a homework quiz on this assignment, so be sure your answers are clear and thorough.
3. You will have time in class to work on the physical geography map we started in class on Monday.

EL World History:
1. Quiz at block -- philosophers and types of government.
2. You will be typing your paragraph (The Wisest Philosopher) at block. Find a picture of your philosopher and print it out, so you can attach it to your paragraph.

APEH:
1. We will finish the New Monarchs lecture/chart at block.
2. Coming: practice using documents to create an essay.
3. Mach/More notes due at block.

First quarter progress report period ends Friday!  Check your grade in Aeries, and see me if you have any questions or if you think there may be errors in your scores.  

I will file grades on Tuesday of next week. Remember, this is not a quarter grade; it's just a progress report.  

US History:
1. Due Thursday: Answers to the questions on the back of the Alexander Hamilton reading.  Remember to identify the paragraph where you found your answer, but don't dump quotes into your answers. 
2. Unit test Friday! Get your binder in order and bring it to class.  I will be collecting a packet of work from the binder.  

EL World History:
1. Due Thursday: Finish the Venn diagram comparing Hobbes and Locke.
2. If you need to retake the vocabulary quiz, you may do so before school or after school on Thursday or Friday. 

APEH:
1. Answers to SG questions 13 and 14 are due on Thursday. 
2. Your art notes are due Friday.  I just need one copy from each pair/group. 
3. You should be prepared to discuss Machiavelli and More in class on Thursday.

2. On Friday, you will take the unit test on our first unit (Colonies to Constitution). Be sure you binder is in order.

EL World History:
1. Vocabulary quiz at block!  Study the word list. Use the crossword puzzle to help you study.

APEH:
1. You should reading sections of Machiavelli and More. You will be discussing the questions in small groups.
2. You should also be reading the next section of McKay, and answering the assigned questions.
3. What were the distinguishing characteristics of the Italian Renaissance? Can you provide examples from the art, literature, politics, etc. to support your description?

1. Due at block: letter to the Governor of Massachusetts expressing your outrage over the Boston Massacre. This is a "point of view" assignment, but you must support your position with facts.
2. Quiz at block: the quiz covers everything from the beginning of the year to the outbreak of the Revolution and the Declaration of Independence.

EL World History:
1. Quiz at block: same words as the practice quiz you took on Monday, but without the word bank!

APEH:
1. Get started on the Study Guide for Chapter 12.
2. Read the introductory reading in the handout.  Mark the text -- remember that the point is to essentially take notes on the reading.  Develop your own system of text markings -- circles, numbers, underlines, marginal notations, etc.
3. The Renaissance as arrived!  We will research the Renaissance and Renaissance art in the computer lab.

US History:
1. Due at block: letter to Governor Hutchinson (or a letter to the editor of a newspaper) expressing outrage over the killings of Bostonians by British soldiers in March of 1770. You can be either a colonist opposed to British rule or a British loyalist angry at colonial actions.  Either way, you must use facts from the handout to support your position. Typed, double spaced, 12pt font, 1 inch margins.
2. Quiz coming!  Be sure you binder is in good order, and that you know where to find different kinds of information.  The quiz will take place either at block or on Thursday of next week.

EL World History:
1. If you didn't finish you poster on the types of government, finish it over the weekend and hand it in on Monday.
2. Quiz on types of government Monday!

APEH:
1. Print out your essay on the 100 Years War.  Be sure you name is in the upper right hand corner; staple or tape the corner down so that your name is hidden.  Bring your essay to class on Monday.

US History:
1. Due at block: Letter to Governor Hutchison (or a letter to the editor of a newspaper) complaining about the incident between colonists in Boston and British soldiers, in which 6 colonists were killed. Your letter should be written from the point of view of either a British soldier (or other supporter of Britain) or an American colonist.  You should include facts about the incident to support your point of view.  Typed, double spaced, 12 pt font, 1 inch margins.  Be sure to come in and see me if you are having any trouble, so we can get you on the right track!

EL World History:
1. Study your vocabulary!  We will have a quiz on types of government on Monday.

APEH:
1. Hundred Years' War essay. How did the events and necessities of the war move both England and France closer to modern nation-states (albeit in different ways).  Create categories of change -- categories make paragraphs!  Or, you may choose to have paragraphs focused on England and France. You may bring a pre-written thesis statement and topic sentences.
2. Relax. All will be well.

2. Before the 100 Years War: feudalism.  After the 100 Years War: beginnings of the modern nation-state.  What are some characteristics of modern nation-states?  How were France and England more like modern nation-states after the war than before it?
3. Come in early on Wednesday or at lunch to retake the map quiz.

3. You should be able to articulate the significance of the 100 Years' War. See if you can list all the ways in which it reflected the transitions of the late 14th and early 15th centuries. How did the origins of the war provide evidence of a shift in political attitudes? How did the war act as a catalyst for political, social and economic change?

3. Have a really good grasp of the 100 Years' War.  How does this war reflect the social, political and economic transitions of the 14th - 15th centuries?  Remember to see everything as an example of a characteristic of the era, or as evidence of a trend of some kind.

1. Quiz Thursday! Open-Note Quiz: Three Worlds Meet. If you have stamped notes, you may use them during the quiz. If you didn't get a stamp, do the notes anyway, and I will give you half a stamp. This will make them worth more if/when I collect them at the end of the unit.
2. Due Friday: Assertion paragraph -- based on the discussion questions. If you are not sure what to do, see me in room 122.

APEH:
1. Map Quiz Thursday.  Countries/regions (modern). Major cities. Big mountain ranges. Important large bodies of water.
