US History:
1. Due Thursday: Review X-word for the Civil War.
2. Unit test is Friday.
3. You'll be writing an essay about Reconstruction next week.
4. If you plan to recite the Gettysburg Address for me, make arrangements to do this by next Friday.  

World History:
1.Due Thursday: Split-page notes on the Industrial Revolution.  Follow the directions on the half-sheet. 

EL World History:
1. Vocabulary quiz on Thursday.

APEH:
1. We really WILL have a lecture on the 30 Years War -- you should have text notes on the stages of the war.
2. There will be a 1648 map quiz on Friday.
3. Due Friday: POV comparison on the slave trade.  Short paragraph on each of the 4 sources.  Think about the individual -- who is he?  What is his interest in the trade ?  Does he seem to have any moral or ethical objections to it?  Or does he seem neutral toward it?  Is there any reason why you would either trust or doubt his account? Is there anything about his personal experience that has colored his perceptions about the slave trade?  Etc, etc., etc....
4. We'll start reviewing the various handouts related to expansion. 
5. Keep working your way through Chapter 15; we'll try to be ready for a test by the middle of next week.

4. Due Friday: POV comparison on the slave trade.  Short paragraph for each source (there are 4 of them), analyzing the writer's perspective.

US History:
1. Think about your poster topic.  You'll have time in class at block to complete the poster.

2. Due Thursday: textbook notes -- follow the directions on the half-sheet carefully.

3. POV comparison due Friday: Atlantic slave trade.  Remember -- don't summarize the content. Focus on the POV of the writer.

1. Remember that you can receive 10 points extra credit for reciting the Gettysburg Address.  It's on the handout I gave you at block on Wednesday.  You can do it any time before the end of the Civil War unit.

World History:
1. You will write your essay in class on Thursday.  You may use your outline, so be sure to have your thesis statement, topic sentences and examples on the outline form.  You may not bring a fully written draft.  You should also have your prep materials (T chart; 3-part chart), as I will be collecting some of them.

EL World History:
1. French Revolution test on Thursday.

APEH:
1. Finish the first set of assigned Review Questions and IDs for Thursday.

World History:
1. You'll be writing your essay on Napoleon in class on Thursday.  You may have your outline with you during the essay, but you may not bring a draft. 

EL World History:
1. French Revolution test on Thursday.  Be sure your binder is in order.

APEH:
1. You should be reading Chapter 15 in McKay, and working on the first set of Study Guide questions and IDs. 
2. Start studying the French kings!  You know you love them.
3. Read the Perry excerpt.  Highlight important points about the global economy and find as many traits as possible of the modern nation-state.

You should be thinking about Napoleon's policies.  Was he really a "son of the revolution?"  Or was he more like an old-fashioned king?  Go through your material and as you identify the actions of Napoleon, label each one either D for democratic or A for autocratic. 

EL World History:
1. If you didn't finish your summary in class on Monday, have it finished on Tuesday.

APEH:
1. Start reading McKay and working on the Study Guide.
2. Start memorizing the French kings.  The first version of the test has 14 kings.
3. Read and highlight the excerpt from Perry, looking for information about the "global" economy and traits of the modern nation-state.

1. Due Friday: Cornell notes on "Slavery and Politics."
2. Due Monday: Writing assignment on "Two Views of Slavery."  Summarize the arguments of the Southern slave owner and Frederick Douglass.  Study the sheet with the pictures and ads. Imagine that you read the Southerner's article defending slavery in a newspaper.  How could you argue against his statements, using the sources available to you? 

World History:
1. Due Friday: You should have completed your chart of Napoleon's actions and gotten it stamped.  You should also have your map completed.  We'll review both of them on Friday.

EL World History:
1. On Friday, you will correct your rough draft, and write a final draft of you essay.

APEH:
1. 5 more IDs!  Don't forget to also do the fill-ins.

2. You should be able to compare and contrast the various religious ideas of the 16th century.
3. What were the main causes of the Reformation?  If your only response is corruption in the Catholic Church, this is a mistake.  Think of political and social causes as well...

1. Continue reading Chapter 14 and completing the Study Guide sections.  I'll stamp them Monday for sure.
2. You should be compiling a list of Lutheran and Calvinist beliefs. 
3. Read the handout on Erasmus, and the excerpt from "Julius Exclusus."  What is Erasmus accusing Julius of?
4. Study the 1555 map for a quiz next week at block.

1. First part of the Chapter 14 Study Guide is due Friday.  Be sure to look over the sheet on Renaissance popes to get an idea of why some people were dissatisfied with the leadership of the Church.
2. Start reading the handout on Luther, Calvin and the Catholic reaction.  Make a T chart comparing Lutheran and Calvinist beliefs.
3. If you didn't finish your DBQ outline on Thursday, try to finish it up for Friday.
