All my classes have brand new books! Take good care of them...the bookroom charges for every little thing when books are new. Please don't lend your book to anyone or leave it in someone else's locker. You (or someone) must return the book checked out specifically to you at the end of the year...or you will end up paying for it! Bummer.

US History:
1. Notebook check Thursday; permission slip due Friday.
2. Read and take reading notes on pages 30-35 (Three Worlds Meet). Use the headings and subheadings in the book as the headings and subheadings in your notes. Your notes are due Friday, Sep. 1. We will review the notes briefly, and take an open-note quiz.

Welcome to a new school year!
New this year: Academies. My World Civ. and US History classes are part of the new Business, Marketing and World Academy (BMW). There will be an emphasis on economic and business issues, although we will follow the general outlines of the traditional World Civ. and US History curricula.

Remember that parking is truly a horrible problem this year. Get to school early. Carpool. Walk. Ride a bike. Whatever you do, don't park in my parking space!!!

US History:
1. I will check your 3-ring binder on Thursday, Aug. 31. Follow the directions in the course outline -- just add a section for current events.
2. The permission slip is due on Friday, Sept. 1.
3. Read the terms on the Vocabulary sheet and circle the ones you don't know, or would like to discuss.

World Civ.
1. Binder check on Thursday, Aug. 31. Follow the directions in the course outline, but add a section for current events.
2. The permission slip is due on Friday, Sept. 1.
3. Read the terms on the Vocabulary sheet. See how many you already know. The terms on the top half of the sheet will be covered this year in class.

APEH
1. You should be looking for Hub Dates! Find 4-5 significant events that go with each date. You may find something that took place in the exact year listed. If your event is close to the listed date, indicate the exact year it took place. Look for events from different parts of Europe, and look for events or trends that relate to different aspects of history (social, political or economic). events.
2. We will have a map quiz and a Hub Dates quiz soon -- possibly by the end of the week.
