When you read/hear about the news of the day, remember to think about historical developments that set the stage for current events.  For example, the coronavirus pandemic is an example of increasing globalization.  When did global trade/travel routes begin to become common?  What are some other examples of globalization -- the movement of people and their ideas, products, germs? 

What about racial disparities in American society....what long-term historical trends are playing out in our own time?
