The 3d quarter grading period is closed as of Friday, March 25th. Final grades will be posted on Monday, April 4th. Grades will be submitted to the office on Tuesday, April 5th.

Have a happy and safe spring holiday!

World Civ:
Students took a quiz on Russia up through the Revolution.
I handed out a textbook assignment entitled "Totalitarianism Part I." On Friday, March 25th, students will have time in class to complete this assignment; everyone should bring a textbook!!
If you don't finish this assignment in class (in other words, if you don't bring your book to class), it becomes homework an is due on the Monday you return from the break.

US History:
We're working our way through the terms and concepts associated with the Cold War and the Fabulous Fifties.
On Friday, March 25th, students should have their textbooks in class. They will have time to complete the second reading outline for this unit, "The Cold War Deepens." If this is not completed in class (in other words, if you don't bring your book), it becomes homework and is due the day you return from the break.

APEH:
Bring books and Study Guides to class on Friday.
1. Finish reading Chapter 30 and work on the Study Guide.
2. Work on the essay that's due on Monday, April 4th.
3. Start reading Chapter 31.

We're nearing the end! We're on schedule to finish our reading and Study Guides by the middle of April, and begin reviewing for the exam.

Remember that everyone is expected to take the AP Exam...the deadline to register without a late penalty is March 25th. You receive a perfect score for my class final if you take the AP Exam. Otherwise, I will administer a final (an old AP Exam), and you will receive whatever grade you earn on that test, without any curve. If you have financial difficulties with exam registration (the cost is outrageous), see Mr. Maxwell on a confidential basis. There is money available to cover this cost.

At block, students will write the DBQ on the Russia before the Revolution.
I'll give some lecture notes on the twenties and thirties; if we don't get to this at block, we'll do it on Thursday. We'll read some poetry by Eliot, a seriously disaffected guy.

World Civ:
We reviewed the reading notes on the crisis in Darfur. I assigned a short writing assignment on the following question: If the US believes the crisis in Darfur constitutes a "genocide," should the US intervene in Darfur, even though the UN has decided the situation is not a "genocide?" Your thesis paragraph should begin with a clear statement of your position in response to the question, then explain your reasons.
We also wrote on a political cartoon (Darfur #1).
No homework.

US History:
We took the open note quiz on two reading outlines: Mobilizing the Home Front and The War anc Civil Rights.
We started a jigsaw activity on the impact of WWII on various social groups in the US.
No homework.

We worked on a modern art project in the computer lab. We'll finish our computer lab time for this project on Thursday. On Friday, we'll work on a DBQ on the Russian Revolution, and you might have some time to work on WWI Study Guides (Chapter 27).
