APEH:
1. Read Chapter 27...we won't spend long on the Great War, since you covered it pretty thoroughly in World Civ and reviewed it briefly again in US History. Focus on the changes WWI made in the lives of European people.

The 3rd quarter progress report period ends this Friday, March 3rd. See me (or your other teachers) immediately if there is any work you need to make up!

US History:
1. If you haven't finished the WWII timeline, it's due on Thursday.
2. When you finish the timeline, start working on the map of Europe.

WC:
No homework.

APEH:
1. Due at block: Study Guide selections for Chapters 24 through 26; Brit politics spectrum and summary of 1848 revolutions.
2. Big MC test at block.
3. Start reading Chapter 27 (WWI) and the Perry readings. This will be a short unit, but we will write.

1. Due at block: Reading notes on "War and Civil Rights."
2. Bring your books to block and again on Thursday.

World Civ:
1. You must have your permission slip in to me by block period!
2. We'll finish our introductory notes on the Holocaust and genocides, and have a short open-note quiz.
3. We should be able to start watching the movie at block!
4. Don't forget to get your field trip form signed by your 4th and 5th period teachers if you would like to hear Dora Sorrell speak about her experiences during the Holocaust. This is a "first come, first served" event, so get your signed slip to me or to Mr. Goldstein (106) or Ms. Cassidy (105) as soon as you can!

APEH:
1. Due at block: Study Guides for 24-26; L to R spectrum of 19th century British politics.
2. The multiple choice test for the 19th century is at block. Eighty questions, all ridiculously difficult.
3. Start reading McKay Chapter 27 and the associated readings in Perry.

US History:
1. Reading notes: War and Civil Rights are due at block. There will be an open-note quiz covering two sets of reading notes at block or on Thursday.
2. A counselor will be in our class on Monday to assist you with program planning for next year.
3. Bring your book to block!

World Civ:
1. Please turn in your permission slip for "Shindler's List" by Monday.
2. We'll continue our introductory material, and we should be ready for a short quiz on key terms and ideas by block period.

APEH:
1. Your posters are due on Monday. Think about the concepts of "liberalism" and "conservatism" in the context of 19th century politics. What does the poster activity teach you about the meanings of these terms relative to our "left to right" spectrum?
2. We'll go over the 19th century review sheets if most people have tried to fill them in. Otherwise, I may be able to give some class time on Monday for you to fill them in.
3. The 19th century MC test will take place at block period. Study Guides are due at that time as well.

US History:
1. Bring your books to class!
Please note that a counselor will be coming to class on Monday, Feb. 26, to help you with program planning for next year. Be ready with all your questions about college admission requirements, high school graduation requirements, electives, etc.

World Civ:
1. If you haven't given me your permission slip for "Schindler's List," please do so immediately! This is a wonderful movie, and I would hate for you to miss it.

APEH:
1. Don't forget to bring copies of your essay for your group members. You don't have to put your name on it if you don't want to.
2. We'll finish the Brit politics spectrum and start reviewing for the test using the review handouts I gave you. Work on these handouts for Monday...we can go over them together if you've worked on them...
3. The big 19th century test will be at block.
4. On to the Great War.

US History:
1. After the test at block, you should have handed in a notebook packet and picked up a copy of the first homework assignment for our next unit (Reading notes on the section entitled Mobilizing the Homefront).
2. Please bring your book to class on Thursday and Friday of this week and Monday of next week.

World Civ:
1. Your review sheets for the test should be finished for Thursday. These include the crossword, the map and the fill-in activity.
2. WWII test is Thursday. Be sure to bring your notebook.
3. The WWII test includes a short writing section. You will need to explain how Hitler and the Nazis were able to gain power in Germany and how they were able to control the German state and people.

APEH:
1. You should have a completed 19th century essay outline at block.
2. Be sure to read all selections in McKay and Perry. We'll have some more lecture, and finally do our posters on British politics.
3. The test will be at block next week. Use the handouts I gave you to review; those who have finished them will be able to go over them in class on Monday. Others will be working on filling them in.

Happy Presidents' Day (that's what you're getting a day off for, ya know).

US History:
1. No homework...but the test will be at block or Thursday at the latest, so study over the weekend!
2. Optional 10 point assignment (just for those who are reading this blog!): Write a 250-300 word paragraph on how the New Deal impacted the US. Your paragraph should have a clear topic sentence and use examples from your notes, charts and homework assignments.

World Civ:
1. No homework. Our test on WWII will take place on Thursday of next week; we will spend most of the block period reviewing.

APEH:
1. A rough draft of your 19th century essay outline is due at block. You should have had time to get some feedback on this in class on Friday.
2. We will look at more DBQs...and write one soon.
3. Finish all readings in Perry and McKay. Do the assigned Study Guide questions for Chapters 24, 25 and 26. If you want to do extra credit, give definition/significance for the terms in the Study Guides.

1. If you didn't finish the chart on New Deal Programs in class, you should finish it at home.
2. Third Period: what was the name of FDR's advisor who helped him create many New Deal programs, such as the NIRA (National industrial Recovery Act)?
Seventh Period: What was the name of the New Deal project that dammed a major river in the southeastern US, to bring hydroelectric power to many people in rural areas?

World Civ:
1. No homework!
2. Fourth Period: What was the name of the "turning point" battle in North Africa, where British General Montgomery defeated Germany's General Erwin Rommel (the "Desert Fox")?
Eighth Period: Who was the leader of the "Free French" forces (he had to flee to Britain while the Nazis were occupying France)?

APEH:
1. A rough draft of your 19th century essay outline is due on Friday.
2. We'll also discuss the Dutch DBQ; please read it, analyze the question, and code the documents. Decide which docs will get a POV discussion.
3. In the late 19th century, a new style of painting known as impressionism appeared. What does the term "impressionism" mean? How does impressionism fit into the rapidly changing intellectual outlook of the 19th century? (How does it relate to artistic movements that came before it, such as neo-classicism, romanticism and realism?)

APEH:
1. Be sure to read the Perry selections. On Thursday, we'll discuss Freud, Nietzsche and Le Bon. They have a common interest, but their motives are different.
2. A rough draft of your 19th century essay is due on Friday. You will share them with your group and get feedback. The final draft is due at block next week (the 22nd)
3. Your group will come up with a solid plan for the Dutch DBQ in class tomorrow.
4. We will need to continue with lectures...Be sure to keep up with your reading in McKay and Perry. Remind me to hand out review sheets for the 19th century.

1. If you didn't finish your map of Europe at the start of WWII in class on Monday, you can still get it stamped at block.
2. Due at block: Reading notes on "The Allies Advance."

APEH:
1. Keep reading McKay and Perry. The 19th century is a big part of the AP exam! Read all the Perry selections, and use the online site and the Study Guides to review. Make sure you know who the prominent people were!
2. We'll discuss the Irish DBQ in class at block...we need to outline it, I think.
3. More 19th century lectures coming, and a poster project on British politics (exciting!).
4. We'll form groups for the 19th century essays outlines.

World Civ:
1. Due Monday: Reading notes on "Europe at War."
2. You should be able to identify and explain social, political and economic causes of WW II.

APEH:
1. Hub Dates on Monday.
2. I will offer a last retake of French Kings next week at tutorial.
3. Work on the Study Guide stuff from Chapters 24, 25 and 26.
4. Organize the DBQ on the Irish famine. Keeping the question in mind, ask yourself why each doc has been included...what is it supposed to show?
5. Keep reading McKay and Perry. The selections in Perry are important...always read the section introductions and the little introductions that accompany most of the selections -- they are really helpful.

World Civ:
1. Current event writing assignment is due on Thursday of next week. See me if you have questions!

APEH:
1. We'll discuss the DBQ on Monday.
2. Assignments you have been working on: Internet POV (due at block); Chapter 23 Study Questions (due Thursday); 2nd Semester Hub Dates; Romanticism project (due at block).
3. Let's plan for a couple of map quizzes next week (Congress Europe and German Unification), and a review of hub dates for the second semester.
4. Please keep up with the readings in McKay and Perry...we're moving fast now, since we need to get through Chapter 31 by the end of April!
