Week of Aug. 28 to Sep. 1
Information for All Students:
Schedule for this week: Block Schedule.
Both TTs are open this week.
Messed Up! I have covid. You will have a sub, possibly for the entire week.
You must finish all work assigned by the sub during class. The sub will collect your work and I will review it when I get back. This is how you will get credit for the work you do while I'm gone.
Don't mess with the sub!
Email me if you have any questions that I can resolve from home.
EL World History
On Monday, the sub will give you the vocabulary quiz. Read the definitions carefully -- I changed the order!
Your poster (Types of Government) is due! Be sure your name is on it, and give it to the sub. I'll post them on the wall when I return.
You will add some new words to your vocabulary dictionary. You will do this on your own, by taking notes from the slides for #4 and #5.
Reading with chart: Autocracy vs. Democracy. Read the descriptions of autocracy and democracy. Use the information to fill in the chart on the back.
Venn Diagram: Compare Autocracy and Democracy.
Democracy Web: Use the reading and your notes (What is Government?) to fill in as many things about democracy as possible.
US History
Monday: Textbook Questions: The War for Independence. Write your answers on the handout. The questions are based on Chapter 3, pages 66 to 70 (posted in Google Classroom).
Block: Finish the textbook question if needed. Then...
Watch the Edpuzzle: Thomas Paine and Common Sense. Watch the video at block period, August 29th or August 30th. The due date for this video is Sep. 1st (Friday). Watch the video before you attempt to read and annotate the primary source.
Primary Source: Thomas Paine's Common Sense. Read the excerpt from Paine's famous pamphlet, Common Sense. Take notes in the left-hand margin as you read. Answer the questions on the back of the sheet on a separate sheet of paper.
Thursday/Friday:
In-class video: Liberty! Watch the video closely. The video is in Edpuzzle, and I've set it so that you can re-watch it as needed. Fill in the video questions as you go along. Answer the questions in complete sentences.
