For review, you watched an Edpuzzle video about the French Revolution, and try to answer the questions in the video. You will need to listen carefully!

We continued to cover the events of the French Revolution, including the National Assembly, the Reign of Terror, and the rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. 

Project!  You started a book about the French Revolution.

This Week:
You will complete your book about the French Revolution.

We'll review our unit on the French Revolution to prepare for the unit test. 

 

US History:

Last Week: 
We started a unit on Industrialization, Immigration and the Progressives. 
You created a new divider for your binder. 

Edpuzzle Video: Overview of the Gilded Age.

Introduction: I showed slides on the changes that took place during the period of industrialization, and you took notes about whether these changes were good or bad for America. 

Padlet: You posted your evaluation of whether "What's Good for Business Is Good for America." 

Textbook Assignment: Rise of Industrialism.  The textbook chapter and the questions were posted in GC. This was due at block and we reviewed it in class. 

This Week: 
On Monday, you will take a quiz on "Rise of Industrialism."  On the quiz, you may use your textbook notes, as well as any notes you took in class during the review. 

Edpuzzle Videos for this week: There are two videos, one on Irish immigration and the other on Chinese immigration.  

You'll take notes about the "New Immigration," which came mainly from Southern Europe, Eastern Europe and Asia. 

Acculturation and Assimilation: You'll create your own analogy to explain what happens when people from all over the world come together in America. 

We'll use political cartoons to analyze the reaction of Americans to the wave of immigration that arrived in America in the late 1800s. 

AP Euro:
Last Week:
Time to sign up for the AP European History Exam!  You should have received an email about the two-step process for registering for the AP Exam in May.  

I assigned the last two sections of the Chapter 14 SG. 

AP Videos for this week were posted in GC. 

We discussed settlement patterns in European settlements in the New World. 

We wrapped up unit 14, and you received some handouts for Chapter 15.  You were assigned a topic for a presentation about the rise of the modern nation-state, with emphasis on the development of absolutism and constitutionalism. 

You filled in a map of the 1648 Treaty of Westphalia. 

This Week: 
We reviewed the SG for Chapter 14. 

I stamped the 4 review questions from the Chapter 15 SG. 

Lecture: Thirty Years' War. 

You will have a bit more time to work on your presentations. I will be presenting on French absolutism and English constitutionalism.

You took a vocabulary quiz on Tuesday. 

You completed a chart of Causes of the French Revolution, and wrote a paragraph explaining the most important cause of the French Revolution. 

I showed slides on the beginning of the Revolution, and you answered questions.

This Week:

For review, you'll watch an Edpuzzle video about the French Revolution, and try to answer the questions in the video. You will need to listen carefully!

We'll continue to cover the events of the French Revolution, including the National Assembly, the Reign of Terror, and the rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. 

Project!  You will be creating a book about the French Revolution.

Last Week: 
Reconstruction Project.
You researched the successes and
 failures of Reconstruction, and recorded your evidence on a T-Chart. Sources: Textbooks and Edpuzzle video (What Was It Like in The South during Reconstruction?)

Political Cartoon: You analyzed a political cartoon about Reconstruction, using the 3-step method. 

Paragraph: Reconstruction -- Success or Failure?  You wrote a paragraph in which you evaluated whether Reconstruction was a success or failure, basing your evaluation on the information you discovered in your research. 

Civil War Review: Crossword Puzzle. The puzzle is due on Monday, October 18th. 

This Week:
We are moving on to a new unit on the period of industrialization in America. You will need to create a new divider for your binder.

We discussed POV -- you are practicing POV analysis using 4 sources on the Atlantic Slave Trade. 

Montaigne: Read him.  Query: What is "cultural relativism?"  

This Week:
Time to sign up for the AP European History Exam!  You should have received an email about the two-step process for registering for the AP Exam in May.  

I'll assign the last two sections of the SG.

You took notes on the situation in France right before the Revolution. 

This Week: 

Causes of the French Revolution!  You are reviewing your notes to find social, political and economic causes of the French Revolution.

You will complete a chart of Causes of the French Revolution, and write a paragraph explaining the most important cause of the French Revolution.

You finished the Timeline of Sectionalism, and you completed a reading outline on the Dred Scott decision.

Reconstruction!

You'll research the successes and failures of Reconstruction, and record your evidence on a T-Chart.

Political Cartoon: You may choose either of the cartoons posted in Google Classroom. Review the instructions for analyzing political cartoons -- you should have a copy in the "Reference" section of your binder. Use the 3-step method. 

Paragraph: Reconstruction -- Success or Failure? Begin your paragraph with a topic sentence that clearly states your historical evaluation of Reconstruction. Support your claim with examples from your research. 

Civil War Review: When you finish the Reconstruction assignments, try your hand at the crossword puzzle.

The French Wars of Religion, aka The French Civil Wars.  Primarily religious or primarily political?  

The Catholic Reformation and Counter-Reformation, including Baroque Art. 

Chart: How many different causes of the Reformation can you identify?  Include social, political and economic causes.  What were the short-term and long-term consequences.  What were the Catholic responses

Chapter 13 SG -- You had some work time on this.
