The third quarter progress report period has closed. I will give your grades to the office on Tuesday morning, and your progress reports should be mailed out to you on Thursday. Please see me if you have any questions about your grade.

US History:

1. Unit test on World War II on Monday! Be sure to bring your binder to class.

APEH:
1. Unit test on the Loooooong 19th Century on Monday. You should have your Study Guides for Chapters 24-26.

2. There will be a short vocabulary quiz on Friday, covering basic terms related to WWII. Study the sheet we went over in class on Thursday. Most, if not all the terms will be familiar to you from sophomore year.

World History:
1. We'll review WWII on Friday. The unit test has been postponed until Monday.

APEH:
1. Work day on Friday.
2. Unit test on the 19th century will take place on Monday. Your Study Guides are due on Monday.

US History:
1. Unit test on the Great Depression and New Deal at block! Be sure to bring your binder. We'll review during the first half of the period, and take the test during the second half.
2. You need a new divider for your binder: WWII on the Homefront.

World History:
1. Due at block: Cornell notes for "Last Days of the War."
2. We should be ready for a test on this unit by Friday.
3. If you missed last Friday's quiz, please make an appointment with me immediately to make it up.

APEH:
1. Panel discussions at block! You should be able to clearly articulate the views of the person you were assigned to play. You should also be able to identify other speakers.
2. We'll be wrapping up the 19th century soon. The most important part of this unit is the "isms." You should be able to explain the main ideas of liberalism, socialism (utopian, revolutionary and revisionist), anarchism, nationalism, imperialism...am I forgetting anything? Fabians? Syndicalists? What were their goals? Methods? How did industrialization and the "New Imperialism" impact European society and the peoples that Europeans dominated?

APEH:
1. Read the questions your panel will be discussing and make sure you understand how your character would view the issues. Please don't tell people on other panels what historical person you are representing!
2. Review all the 19th century thinkers on the list I gave you. You can make brief notes on the list or write notes on a separate sheet of paper.
3. Bring Perry with you every day.
4. Your 19th century essay outline is due next week.
5. You should be reading Chapter 26 and doing the Study Guide questions.

1. Due Friday: Letter to FDR. Briefly describe the Depression-era problems facing three of the groups of Americans we've studied. For each group, propose a new law or program to help solve their problems. Propose real solutions, not just short-term relief.



World History:
1. Quiz on Friday! The quiz will cover WWII up through the entry of the USA.
2. Due Friday: text notes on "The Allies Advance."



APEH:
1. You should have a rough draft of an outline to show to your group.
2. Bring the Perry book, so you can research and discuss your role.
3. You should be wrapping up Chapter 25. I'll hand out the Chapter 26 Study Guide on Friday.

US History:
1. Due Thursday: "Impact of the New Deal."
2. Due Friday: Letter to FDR, explaining the problems facing three of the groups on your chart (Impact of the Depression on US Social Groups), and recommending new laws or programs that would help those groups recover from the impact of the Depression. Typed, double-spaced, 12pt font, 1 inch margins.
3. If you missed the open-note quiz on the causes and impact of the Great Depression, you must make an appointment to make it up immediately. Once I hand back the quizzes, you will not be able to make it up.

World History:
1. If you didn't finish your map in class at block, please finish it at home.
2. Due Friday: "The Allies Advance."
3. We'll be having a quiz on WWII up to the entry of the US into the war. Keep your binder in order!
4. If you are planning to retake the WWII vocabulary quiz, you have until Friday to do it.

APEH:
1. You should be finishing up Chapter 25 and working on the Study Guide and the Perry readings.
2. You should know all the 19th century thinkers on the list I gave you (and we'll be adding some new ones!). Be sure to read the short explanatory sections in Perry; they're very useful.

1. Your quiz on the causes and impact of the Great Depression is Thursday.

World History:
1. Due Thursday: "Japan's Path to War."
2. We'll have a quick vocabulary quiz on Thursday, coving the words we reviewed together at block.

APEH:
1. You should be working on your Study Guides. The sheet with all the 19th century writers is EC...just a couple of paragraphs for each, summarizing the POV they represent.
2. What does it mean to be liberal or conservative? What was the "conservative" position in the 19th century...as opposed to the ideas of people we call "conservatives" now? Try to free yourself from American definitions of these terms. Remember that in Europe, "liberal" still has overtones of "laissez faire," which is totally the opposite of what it means here.
3. Read Perry!
