US History:
1. Due Monday: "War and Civil Rights." We'll take a quiz covering "Mobilizing the Homefront" and "War and Civil Rights" sometime next week.

World History:
1. For Monday, write a few sentences stating what you think should be done about the situation in Darfur. You can use the white space on the "Genocide" reading to do this.

APEH:
1. Start reading McKay Chapter 27 and the associated Perry sections. We won't spend much time on this chapter. Focus on the social and political changes brought on by WWI.
2. Fill in the review sheets and the map activity. I'll give you class time to work on the study guide in groups.

Today (Thursday) was the close of the 3d quarter progress report period. Please see me immediately if you have any questions about your grade -- check the printout at the front of the room, or ask me for a personal printout!

US History:
1. If you did not finish the timeline of WWII events in class on Thursday, please finish it for Friday. We'll go over it in class.
2. Due Monday: text notes on "War and Civil Rights."
3. There will be an open-note quiz on both "Mobilizing the Homefront" and "War and Civil Rights" next week. Due to the Camp Darfur presentation and Days of Diversity, I'm not sure exactly when the quiz will take place...but take good notes and be ready!

World History:
1. You do not have homework.

APEH:
1. Multiple Choice test on the Looooong 19th Century on Friday. Please turn in the Chapter 26 study guide.
2. Study the essay outlines you shared in your group. Pick the one you want to write in class next week.

Thursday is the end of the progress report period for 3rd quarter. If you need to make up any recent work, you should see me at lunch on Thursday!

US History:
1. Due Monday: text notes for "The War and Civil Rights." We'll take an open note on this and "Mobilizing the Homefront" at block next week.

World History:
1. Due Thursday: read and highlight "Special Vehicles." Look for words/phrases that tip you off to the true meaning. Then, refer to your lecture notes from Monday for a term that describes this reading.

APEH:
1. 19th century test is Friday; Ch. 26 study guide will be due.
2. How was the "new imperialism" different from European expansion of previous centuries? Be able to list several categories of comparison/contrast.

World History:
1. Due Thursday: Read the primary source entitled "Special Vehicles." Circle or underline words and phrases that help you understand the meaning. Review your lecture notes from Monday and find the vocabulary term that best describes "Special Vehicles."

APEH:
1. Those of us who are not going on the physics field trip will have a wild party on Thursday. Either that, or I will just give everyone who's in class on Thursday the answers to the test.
2. Test on Friday. Your Chapter 26 Study Guide will be due.
3. I should have received your essay outline and your group notes on the study questions from Chapter 24, as well as the study guides for Chapters 24 and 25.

US History:
1. Due Wednesday: "Mobilizing the Homefront." You will really need notes for the quiz!
2. Program planning will take place Wednesday in class. I don't know how long it will take.
3. If you want to retake the WWII vocab quiz, see me at lunch.

World History:
1. We should be able to start watching "Schindler's List" at block. Please give me your permission slip NOW if you haven't already done so!

APEH:
1. We'll review tomorrow and maybe outline a DBQ.
2. Due to the physics trip, the test on the 19th century will be on Friday. (Grumble, grumble.)
3. If you need to make up or retake the 19th century map test, see me at lunch.
4. I should have both the C 24 and Ch 25 study guides from everyone.

1. World War II vocabulary quiz on Monday. These are all words you learned last year in World History! Study the vocab sheet we reviewed together in class on Friday, as well as the lecture notes on "Causes of WWII" that you took on Thursday.
2. Due at block: "Mobilizing the Homefront."
3. Program planning will also take place at block period.

World History:
1. Please turn in your permission slip for "Schindler's List" if you have not already done so!!

APEH:
1. You should definitely have an essay outline ready on Monday. If you had a chance to discuss it with your group, and you think you have a fina draft, make copies for everyone in your group.
2. You should be working on your Chapter 26 study guide.
3. Have someone type up your group discussion notes on the study questions (from the back of the Chapter 24 study guide).
4. If you feel a desparate need to retake the 19th century map quiz, see me at lunch next week.

US History:
1. See me right away to make up the Great Depression/New Deal test, or to turn in work.
2. Due at block next week: "Mobilizing the Homefront." There will be an open-note quiz on this assignment, so take good notes!

World History:
1. Test on WWII Friday! Bring your binder to class!
2. Due Friday: paragraph on the most important causes of WWII. Typed, double-spaced, 12 pt font, 1 inch margins.
3. If you have not turned in your permission slip for "Schindler's List," please do so immediately.

APEH:
1. Chapter 25 is due Friday, along with an essay outline. We'll have more worktime in class.
2. Keep working on the 19th century...move on the the Chapter 26 study guide asap.
3. See me about missing assignments...many people have been absent due to illness or activities!

Want extra credit? Give a short presentation on an influential African American in honor of Black History Month! See me to schedule a time.

US History:
1. Due next week at block: "Mobilizing the Home Front."
2. You need a new divider in your binder for World War II.
3. Remember that on Wednesday, Feb. 27, a counselor will be coming to the class to help you with program planning for next year. Start thinking about what you would like your schedule to look like next year, and talk it over with your parents. If you have questions, make an appointment with your counselor.

World History:
1. Due Thursdy: "Last Years of the War."
2. Your paragraph on the most important causes of WWII is due on Friday. Be sure you begin with a topic sentence that states your three most important causes. In the body of the paragraph, explain your reasoning -- why were these the most important causes?
3. Our unit test will take place on Friday.

APEH:
1. Map Quiz on Thursday!
2. I'll collect the Chapter 25 study guide on Friday.
3. We are wrapping up the 19th century. We'll spend some class time working on outlines, study guides, review sheets, etc. The test will be next week.

2. Review the people/ideas on the sheet of 19th century thinkers. What are the main issues each was concerned with? What were their most important ideas?

3. Keep filling in information on your chart of causes of WWII.

APEH:
1. On Thursday, I'll collect the study guide for Chapter 24, the timeline of France (1815 -- 1870) and your POV comparison (Engels, Ure & Dickens).
2. You should be finishing up your political spectrum/1848 chart.
3. Use Perry to review the viewpoints of the thinkers listed on the handout I gave you in class. Remember that if we have a town hall meeting/debate, you will not only have to BE one of the these thinkers, you will also have to be able to identify the others by listening to their opinions.
4. You should definitely be working on Chapter 26 by now.

Don't forget to let me know if you want to do an extra-credit presentation for Black History Month. It should be about 5 minutes in length and inform the class about an African-American who has had a strong influence on American society. Visuals are good...you can use the overhead or the LCD projector, or use a poster as a visual.

EC opportunity: short presentation about an influential African-American for Black History Month. It should be someone whose contributions will stand the test of time (in other words, not your favorite rapper this week -- but it could certainly be an influential musician). You'll need to tell us about the person's life and why he/she matters to US society or to the world. Let me know in advance so we can plan a time for you to present -- 5 minutes or so.

US History:
1. Due at block: "Impact of the New Deal."
2. Due Thursday, Feb. 14th: Current Events paragraph. See me asap for help; bring notes.

World History:
1. Due at block: "Europe at War."

1. Bring books and binders to class on Monday so you can be productive during our work day.

3. Read all the Perry selections.
4. Work on the 19th century political spectrum/1848 notes. Think about why you're having difficulty with this...remember that ideas about "liberalism" and "consevatism" have changed. Think 19th century.

US History and World History students: It's Black History Month! For 5-10 extra credit points, be prepared to tell the class about an influential African-American. The person you choose can be an artist, politician, sports figure, activist, educator, scientist...whatever you like, so long as he/she has been an achiever in some field. Tell us about the person's life and why he/she was important. If you're want, you can use the overhead and put up some notes or a picture. You can also use the projector/Internet/PowerPoint. Let me know at the start of class any time this month if you want to do it.

US History:
1. Due at block next week: Textbook reading guide: "Impact of the New Deal."
2. Your current events writing assignment is due next Thursday, Feb. 14. If you aren't sure how to do it, see me for ideas. Bring your notes!

World History:
1. Last day to retake the WWII vocabulary quiz is Friday, Feb 8th! Come in at lunch, study for a few mintues and take the quiz.

1. You should be reading Chapter 26 in McKay and the associated Perry readings. Please be sure to read the Perry selections! You really can't get a feel for these influential new thinkers without reading at least a little of what they wrote.
