World Civ:
We're continuing with the movie. At block, we'll review the reading on the current crisis in the Darfur region of the Sudan, in Africa. We'll watch more of the movie.

US History:
I gave a slide lecture on "Life on the Homefront."
At block, there will be an open-note reading quiz on two reading outlines: "Mobilizing the Home Front," and "The War and Civil Rights."

APEH:
More WWI review. On Wednesday and Thursday, we'll go to the computer lab to research modern art. On Friday, we'll work on the Russian Revolution DBQ.
The test on WWI will be on Monday, March 7. The Study Guide for Chapter 27 will be due at that time.

World Civ:
After a brief review of the "Stages of the Holocaust" chart, I handed out a reading on the current situation in the Darfur region of Sudan. Your reading outline for this selection is due at the block period next week.
We started "Schindler's List."

US History:
We reviewed the reading notes on "Mobilizing the Home Front" and "The War and Civil Rights."
We worked together to complete a map showing Japanese advances in the Pacific and major Pacific battle sites.
No weekend homework.

APEH:
Review of basic WWI facts and concepts. We won't spend long here...I know you've covered it already. We'll finish our review on Monday, then go to the computer lab on Wednesday and Thursday to research modern art.
Study Guide for Chapter 27 is due next Friday.
Scores on the 19th century scantron sucked. Study harder. :)

World Civ:
We covered basic terms related to the Holocaust and genocides. We reviewed the reading guide entitled "The Holocaust," and took an open-note homework quiz. Students worked to complete a chart showing the stages of the Holocaust.
Please remember that you must return a signed permission slip to watch "Schindler's List." We'll probably start the movie on Friday.
No homework.

US History:
We continued our review of WWII. We finished the timeline and worked on a map of Europe.
On Thursday, we'll review the war in the Pacific. No homework.

APEH:
We went over the 19th century review sheets and then took the test.
On Thursday, we'll begin World War I. We may also begin work on a DBQ on the Russian Revolution.
Keep up with your readings on WWI, as we will finish this unit quickly.

World Civ:
We've finished the unit on WWII and we've moved on to a unit on the Holocaust and genocide. The textbook assignment "The Holocaust" is due at block; please bring your books to class.
Don't forget to bring a permission slip for the movie "Schindler's List."

US History:
We finished up the Great Depression and New Deal, and we've started a review of WWII. We'll move on to a study of US actions and US society during the war years.
Please complete your reading notes for the text section "Mobilizing the Home Front" for block period next week. The second section, "The War and Civil Rights" is due next Friday (2-25).
Please bring your books to block.

APEH:
We took a killer quiz on hub dates and maps.
I handed out review sheets for the 19th century. We'll take the test next week and move on to the Great War.

We reviewed "The Allies are Victorious" and reviewed for the unit test.
Unit test on WWII is Thursday!!
Bring your notebook and your textbook.

US History:
We took the unit test on the Great Depression and New Deal.
I collected a notebook packet. Please bring your textbook to class on Thursday and Friday.

APEH:
Study Guides for Chapter 25 are due at block. Your 19th century outlines should also be complete. We'll start reviewing for the 19th century test, which will take place on Friday??

World Civ:
We reviewed the Pacific War, and discussed the dropping of the atom bomb.
I handed out permission slips for the film "Schindler's List." Please have a parent or guardian sign and return this slip, or you will not be able to watch this excellent film!
Due at block: "The Alllies are Victorious."

US History:
We discussed the impact of the New Deal, and reviewed for the unit test, which will take place at block!

APEH:
A brief lecture on Nietzsche and Freud, and time to work on outlines and Study Guides.
Chapter 25 Study Guide is due at block, and 26 is due at the end of the week.
We will test on the 19th century as soon as we wrap up our review.

World Civ:
Due Monday: short writing assignment on appeasement.
We took the quiz on WWII before US entry on Thursday. Scores were generally very high, but if you did poorly, see me about a possible retake.

US History:
Due Monday: "Impact of the New Deal."
We are winding up this unit. Review day will be Monday, and the unit test will be at block (February 15 or 16).
On to WWII!

APEH:
More political lectures...
For Chapters 25 and 26, do the identifications in the Study Guide, rather than the review questions.
Bring McKay, Perry and Study Guides to class, so you can work on the 19th century outline project, or on your Study Guide if need be.
We're nearing the end of the loooong 19th century (finally).

World Civ:
We read some excerpts from Hitler's book, Mein Kampf, and then reviewed the homework assignment "Battle for France and Great Britain." Students took an open-note homework quiz. I gave a sheet of notes on the causes of WWII, and we took a practice quiz on the map of Europe in 1939. Students had a little time to work on homework ("Japan Strikes in the Pacific").

US History:
I gave a sheet fo lecture notes on the First New Deal. Students worked to complete a chart showing the various programs of the New Deal.
Remember that the short writing assignment on the impact of the Great Depression is due on Friday.

APEH:
I lectured on the period 1848-1900 primarily with regard to France.
Students traded DBQs and tried to read and score at least 3 papers.
I collected the Study Guide for Chapter 24.

World Civ:
Students took the WWII vocabulary quiz...a retake will be offered at tutorial.
I assigned the text assignment "Battle for France and Great Britain."
Students received a short writing assignment on the policy of appeasement (due Monday, Feb. 14).

US History:
Students worked in class to complete a chart on the impact of the Great Depression on various social groups in the US. This chart will be the resource for writing the "policy paper," which is due on Friday.

APEH:
Students finished the L-R chart on British politics in the 19th century and their summaries of the Revolutions of 1848.
Continue reading in McKay and Perry and work on the Chapter 24 Study Guide (IDs and Fill-ins only this time).
DBQ should be turned in to turnitin.com by this evening.

World Civ:
We spent a day reviewing the events that led to the start of WWII. We went over the fill-in review sheet, and the homework entitled "Aggressors on the March." Students checked their maps of totalitarian expansion against mine. I gave a sheet of overhead notes on the policy of appeasement.
There is no weekend homework.

US History:
We went to the library to listen to Bob Wilson sing Depression era songs.
No weekend homework.

APEH:
I lectured on Restoration Europe.
Students worked on the 19th century political spectrum.
The Irish DBQ should be submitted to turnitin.com by Monday night.
Study Guides for Chapter 24 are due at block.

World Civ:
On Thrusday, we'll review the map of totalitarian aggression, the fill-in review sheets and the text assignment "Aggressors on the March."

US History:
Bob Wilson will be singing Depression era songs for us on Thursday in the library.

APEH:
More 19th century stuff...be prepared to write the Irish DBQ over the weekend.
Chapter 24 StudyGuide: do the IDs rather than the "Review Questions," and complete the fill-ins.

World Civ:
I handed out a sheet of vocabulary terms related to WWII, and we reviewed these together, adding notes. We'll take a quiz on these essential terms on Monday, Feb. 7.
We reviewed the changes to Europe's political geography after WWI, and then students began work on a map showing the beginnings of WWII.
When the map was complete, students worked on a fill-in review sheet.
The map, the fill-ins, and the homework "Aggressors on the March" will be stamped on
Thursday.

US History:
Students took an open-note quiz covering several assignments.
I stamped students reading notes for "President Hoover and the Failure of Conservatism."
Students broke into small groups to read a series of economic briefings and to debate the best policies for dealing with the problems of the Great Depression.

APEH:
We continued with the "long 19th century." Keep up with your reaidngs!
Internet POV assignment was due.
